Tonight our special guest is John Rasmussen, John represents Canada for world triathlon events and he is trying to make it to the 2024 Summer Olympics. John tells us about how he got started in triathlons, a very interesting story indeed. We are told that John's parents were very supportive of everything he wanted to try out at a young age. Starting out at the age of 9, even in his first race John knew this was for him, finishing 2nd overall. John tells us in his first year of University he was 5'2" and soon he grew to 6'1" all in one year and how much his body hurt and he was having a ton of injuries, all from the growth spurt. Now that John is better and has stopped growing he trains every week for 35-40 hours. Next, we talk about a serious incident where John was riding with another friend and at a stop sign John
was attacked by a driver. John tells us it was a tough time for him but his friends and family really helped him through everything. John could have stayed afraid, he could have quit, but that's not John. He wouldn't let one negative moment ruin his goals. We brought this up because we hope to help others that have had this happen while riding from some crazy motorist. It's more common than one might think and that's sad in itself. There is so much here for anyone that wants to get themselves motivated and hit their goals, John is
an excellent example of that. John also talks about his wife Genevieve and how much they enjoy spending time together going on different adventures and how their goals are very similar. With great family and friends by his side, we believe there is nothing that John can't do. Be careful out there everyone and keep your wits about you.
