  • Running is kind of addictive - With Carolane Pitre # 158

4 APR 2024 ·  What a fantastic talk we had with Carolane Pitre. Originally from Quebec and now living in Halifax, this young lady has been through a lot and will not give up. Her determination, drive, and personality will not allow her to stop. The one time she did haunted her so much that she had to duplicate the event to make amends. Running, swimming and biking keep Carolane motivated, put all three together and it's a dream come true. We asked Carolane about her cycling accident and how long it took to recover. Carolane was back on the bike as soon as she was physically able. As always on Motivate to Move, it's wonderful to see people motivated to keep on moving and not let anything get in their way. Great job Carolane, we can't wait to see what is next for you.  Motivate to Move email, let us know who should be on the show: motivatetomove.podcast@gmail.com Motivate to Move Facebook page, check us out: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100041607699495 As always please give the gift of life and donate blood today.

  • Speaking with the specialist - With Graham Black #156

21 MAR 2024 ·  Tonight our very special guest is Graham Black, a native of Montreal who has lived in Moncton for the past 24 years. Graduated from Concordia University, with a degree in Sports Medicine as a Certified Athletic Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist with over 25 years of experience in both fields. Graham is also the athletic Therapist for our Moncton Wildcats and is currently Co-owner of Sportmed Max in Dieppe. A former guest that we enjoy having on, Michael Roy, suggested making an appointment to see Graham and I am very glad I did. We discuss the difference between a Physiotherapist and an Athletic Therapist and some of the common injuries that Graham sees. Graham surprises us with something he is seeing more often, I didn't have this on my radar at all but makes sense when you think about things today. When Graham isn't seeing people at his clinic he is hard at work with the Moncton Wildcats, Go cats go! Winning the Memorial Cup is always the goal and maybe this year that will happen. We had an amazing discussion and Graham is so good at telling stories, especially about when he needed a suit at the last minute to be hired for the Wildcats job.    I enjoyed my time at Sportmed Max Physiotherapy and I wanted to get the phone number out there for anyone who could use any of the services that they provide, links below. We hope everyone who tunes in has a wonderful day and stays safe and injury-free. • Use it or lose it - With Greg Scott #155

13 MAR 2024 ·   Greg Scott started racing mountain bikes at a later stage of life finishing dead last for the first few. After Greg had some races under his belt the results got better and better, now at 63 Greg hopes to make the podium and keep on biking as long as possible. With two broken ribs, one clavicle,  seven broken helmets, plus cancer treatments and a ton of bike parts replaced, there is no doubt Greg loves racing mountain bikes. Greg also designs and maintains courses trying to use the lay of the land to help with a more natural design plan. Why not work in a bike shop with some spare time, Greg loves to help others get on their bike and accomplish their goals. An inspiring tale about someone who just will not give up. The Elgin 80 is Greg's next big race and we believe he will have fun no matter where he finishes, good luck Greg Motivate to Move email: motivatetomove.podcast@gmail.com Motivate to move Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100041607699495 As always, please give the gift of life and donate blood today.

  • Your direction is more important than your speed - With Cory Richardson #154

29 FEB 2024 · "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." Words to live by and Cory Richardson does live by these words that is why we invited him back onto our show. Cory is very passionate about getting our youth outdoors more and on the internet less. We wanted to take a deeper dive into how this could be accomplished. We discuss a wide range of topics about how this may be done. Our direction is more important than our speed, just getting started is half the battle. How many people have gear for outdoor activities they never use, I know I do. Maybe the schools could help out? it's possible. We are hoping that someone can listen to this and help this process along. All the links are below if you would like to contact Cory and see if there might be something you could do. Let's spread the word and help to keep our youth more active in the great outdoors. That would be good for everyone, mentally and physically. • Be the adult you want your kids to become - With Jean-Marc Doiron #153

22 FEB 2024 · In this week's episode, our very special guest is Jean-Marc Doiron. Jean-Marc Doiron is a high-performance runner and a dedicated family man. At 35, he is not only a father of two but also a seasoned athlete who has clocked over 3,000 kilometers annually for the past two decades. His passion for running remains undiminished, with a personal best marathon time of 2:32, achieved in the fall of 2023 while raising two young children. Jean-Marc’s journey into the world of running began at the age of 16 when he decided to focus solely on the sport after being a multi-sport athlete. This decision paved the way for his participation in the World Francophone Games in Lebanon in 2009 and his recognition as Athlete of the Year across all sports at his university in 2010. In 2011, he clocked a personal best time of 1:49 in the 800m, narrowly missing the 2012 Olympic standard of 1:46. Beyond his achievements, Jean-Marc has also significantly contributed to the sport through coaching. He led the university’s cross-country team and was honored as Coach of the Year in 2016. That same year, he ran his first marathon, an experience that captivated him with its unique training regimen, intricate logistics of nutrition and stress management, and the camaraderie accompanying the event. Jean-Marc’s story is a testament to his dedication to running and his commitment to his family.
