On my 48th birthday, I gave myself permission to step away from the usual format of the show and create a more personalized playlist. Thirty songs stretched across two hours, it's a combination of artists, selections, and musical styles that largely represents my sonic DNA. Mass transit troubles pushed the show back about an hour, so that story gets shared right at the top in the Bondfire Radio studio during some quick conversation with my man Ankhle Conscious.

A day after this broadcast, Andrew Barker of 808 State (one of my favorite electronic music groups) died at the age of 53. The inclusion of one of their tunes in the birthday playlist has even more significance for me in hindsight. Eternal respect due to his memory and living legacy.
