Dr. Jeanine Cook-Garard talks with Natasha Simone Alexenko about her recently written memoir, “A Survivor's Journey: From Victim to Advocate.” Natasha recounts her experience being violently assaulted in New York City in 1993. She discusses the profound impact this trauma had on her life. Natasha founded Natasha’s Justice Project in 2011. She is a consultant for the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), where she works with law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and rape crisis center staff members on techniques to properly support victims and process kits. In today's program, she discusses her road to healing, health and recovery through advocacy work, support networks and giving victims a voice.
