Faith Lingerfelt, Jamie and Angela's oldest daughter, joins her parents on this week's show to talk about the power of the tongue. The words we speak navigate the course of our lives. Troubles in relationships are often the result of a lack of communication. The confessions of our mouths have so much power over our own lives, and also over the lives of those around us, especially in our homes. The enemy is the accuser, so we have to communicate with each other to make sure the deceptions of the enemy are brought into the light and destroyed. We need to make sure the things we say build others up, and build up the church.
There is emotional healing available for those who have been hurt by the words of others. These types of wounds can be the most difficult and most devastating in our lives, but God will heal them. We need to learn what God says about us to help combat the lies of the enemy and the hurtful words spoken about us. Oftentimes the negative things that have been spoken over us set up strongholds and roots of bitterness or unforgiveness that will hinder our relationship with God. These hurts can prevent us from boldly approaching God's throne of grace to receive the forgiveness and healing we need. Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. So as believers we have to take the time to take every thought captive, and cleanse our minds with the Word of God.
