On the same day that Martin Luther King pursued his dream in America, a group of Bristolians boycotted buses, changing the face of civil rights in the UK.

The campaign led to the Bristol Omnibus Company lifting its “colour bar” on employment, and paved the way for the UK’s Race Relations Acts of 1965 and 1968.

On this episode of the Sky News Daily Podcast, host Noel Phillips speaks Roy Hackett, who was part of the 1963 Bristol protests, long-term campaigner for civil rights, Barbara Dettering, and history teacher and boycott enthusiast Tracy O’Brien.
