show moreJessye Cohen-Filipic is a licensed psychologist and assistant professor at a liberal arts college. Jessye has been involved in social justice work related to HIV/AIDS and LGBT communities since she was a high school student in the late 1980s. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. She has worked as a teacher, researcher, and therapist. She has worked in many settings, including a jail, community mental health clinics, VA hospitals, and a primary care medical clinic in a hospital. Her primary research is in the area of health psychology and chronic illness. She also works in the area of pre-professional and professional training in psychology and related professions. Jessye has presented and published papers related to training students to work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender clients and other specific groups. Jessye and her wife have been foster parents for several years and have a four-year-old daughter.
