Welcome to Porshanality Podcast! A curiously sermonic podcast playground for adulting over 30. Because let’s keep it real, life will keep life with swift transitions, but together we can honor the moments we are in and keep on living.

I am your host, Porsha Williams Gates. I’m an entrepreneur, coach, ordained minister, spiritual advisor, writer, and so much more. Join me weekly on Wednesdays as we grow and live together in community.

For this episode, "BE HERE, NOW, AND WHATNOT," Porsha shares about being in the present moment. Often times we are looking towards the past or the future that were are missing out on what is before us in the present moment. When asked what is next for her after transitioning out of the parish, she responded with being in the present. Porsha is focused on what is in front of her at the moment. While she does think about the future and refelct on the past, she finds that the place where the two meet is called the present.

There are many benefits to being still and living in the present moment. Here are a few:
  1. Reduced stress and anxiety: When we focus on the present moment, we are less likely to worry about the past or the future, which can help reduce stress and anxiety.
  2. Improved concentration: Being still and present allows us to fully concentrate on the task at hand, which can improve our performance and productivity.
  3. Increased self-awareness: When we are still and present, we become more aware of our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. This can help us better understand ourselves and our reactions to different situations.
  4. Better relationships: When we are fully present with others, we can build deeper and more meaningful connections with them.
  5. Greater appreciation of life: Being still and present allows us to fully experience the beauty of life, including the small moments that we may otherwise overlook.
  6. Improved mental and physical health: Studies have shown that mindfulness practices, which involve being still and present, can improve both mental and physical health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression and by boosting the immune system.
Overall, being still and living in the present moment can help us lead a more fulfilling and joyful life.
