This episode is all about the benefits of drinking good old H2O. In order to be your healthiest, you must be properly hydrated. How do you know if you are drinking enough, or too little, or too much? Drinking enough water is a great way to relieve many common symptoms like fatigue, irritability, headaches, and muscles soreness. Water is the ultimate brain food, it prevents hangovers, it protects against heart disease + certain types of cancers, and it helps us digest our food. Added bonus: Water boosts metabolism. Signs you're hydrated
- Look at the color of your urine.
*If it’s completely clear, you are likely over-consuming water and over-hydrating.
**If your urine is a darker yellow color, you’ll need to add more water into your diet and more fresh fruits and veggies.
Signs you're dehydrated
- Reduced endurance, increased fatigue, reduced motivation, and bad mood.
-Do you have impaired thirst signals?
-Does it feel like you're forcing water down?
-Concerns about over-hydrating (more in the next episode)
Seven tricks to hit your daily water targets (72oz for women/100oz for men):
1) Infuse it with fun flavors [mint + lime].
2) Start early. Add-on a mug of hot water w/ fresh lemon along side your usual AM coffee.
3) Make super soda [shot of 100% juice + sparkling water].
4) Track it with an app [like iHydrate, Plant Nanny or Aqualert].
5) Get spicy [add hot spice to meals to increase thirst].
6) Brew it [drink unsweetened tea like Chaga or Chai].
7) Eat it [water-rich fruits and veggies like cucumber and watermelon].
