What's wrong with that is either you are applying externally learned secular values to your holy books or you are trying to make your holy books look like something they are not. I'm sure she's not doing the latter. To honestly do the former, you have to be open to all sources of wisdom, all traditions that have contributed to the modern world and judge them on their merits. When you do that, there is no more need to "reform" anything. There is only our best and highest aspirations and everything either supports them or not.
