With the unfortunate pandemic looming around the world, Devon was eager to find ways to put her stagnant gifts to use. That’s when she was invited to join Clubhouse, an audio app, that allows you to connect with others around the world. It wasn’t long until Devon’s gifts made room for her and she started auditioning and networking with actors, producers, directors, and screenwriters who performed on Broadway as well as based out of LA, Atlanta, Chicago, London, Africa and more!
Following this Devon was cast as “Shug” (Taraji P. Hensen’s sweet and lovable character) in the audio musical “Hustle and Flow” on Clubhouse. She then directed and produced her re-imagined version of “For Colored Girls” on Clubhouse as well.
She is currently voice cast as “Mama Odie” in the live Clubhouse audio production of Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog” by Allen and Gray Musicals (green cast). This is her first voice-over/cartoon role and definitely won’t be her last. The show happens Juneteenth weekend, Friday, June 18th at 7pm CST and Saturday, June 19th at 2 pm CST so be sure to tune in.
With the goal to represent San Antonio on her heart, Devon strives to perfect her craft and continue to push herself to higher heights. She is currently teaches private performing arts classes and praise dance at her church. Devon is happily married to Rev. James Mathews, bonus mommie to 4, and the proud daughter of Rebecca Cheatham Wilson and David Wilson. She is so grateful and blessed with the gifts the Lord has given her and will continue to share them with the World.
Her mantra: “I do not want to leave this Earth with all of my art inside of me.”v
