Wednesday 13 is the ultimate musical ghoul. Through his bands, he has introduced the world to the darkness and macabre inherent in his life and has drawn his fans into a shock/horror style of music that is based as much in fun as it is in atmosphere.
With the imminent release of new album Necrophaze, Wednesday finally gets to fulfil what fans have wished for constantly by releasing a body of work just in time for Halloween.
"It's perfectly lined up", he laughed. "Every time we put a record out of course people say put it out at Halloween and that always sounds good until you start thinking about what that means. As soon as Halloween is over you have the holidays and then Christmas and it kind of loses all focus. For me being the Halloween guy that I am Halloween starts at the beginning of October and you have all those weeks building up to it, and you go out shopping looking for all the cool stuff so it's perfect our record comes out right at the end of September so you have the entire month of October to do your Halloween stuff and have this as a soundtrack so hopefully it will play well for people and over the years will remind them of Halloween".
In the full interview Wednesday discusses the cinematic approach to the sound on Necrophaze, the assumption that it would go heavier again after previous album Condolences, the overall theme of the album, night terrors and his experiences with them, the use of keyboards and synthesizers on this album, guest artists Alice Cooper and Christina Scabbia and why he decided to use other musicians at this stage of his career, his upcoming Australian tour with Static X and more.
