In a few short years, Midnite City have managed to find themselves atop the current resurgence of glam related hair metal, a feat extraordinary given the depth of emerging talent in that genre.

Their second album There Goes The Neighborhood was voted fifth best Melodic Rock Album of the year in Classic Rock magazine and a whirlwind and highly successful tour of Australia early last year cemented their reputation in this country.

It seemed a natural disaster would be the only thing that could halt this juggernaut but even that failed, merely forcing the band into lockdown to create a new album with a heavier twist.

This newer direction is typified with lead single “Crawlin In The Dirt”, an up-tempo rock number that is packed full of riffs, hooks and harmonies.

Bass player Josh ‘Tabbie’ Williams joined HEAVY from the U.K to talk about the new single and it’s heavier direction.

"It's something we've never really gone into in terms of musicianship,” he explained. “We've really gone heavy with this one compared to our previous efforts. We kind of thought that because it was so different we wanted to let that be known that we have taken a slightly edgier route with the new album. It's a really good, up-tempo rocker. We've used the same formula as we have with the last couple of albums but tweaked a couple of things here and there. In terms of the whole thing coming together, it's been a fun experience given the circumstances and I think everyone has upped their game all round so the results - for me - speak for themselves.”

In the full interview, Josh discusses the song in greater detail, runs through the album and its musical direction, choosing “Crawlin In The Dirt” as lead single, touring life in the current climate, Midnite City’s rapid rise through the ranks and more.

"Crawling in the Dirt" will be released January 22.
