Bernardo Buontalenti (1531 - 1608), allievo del Vasari, è stato architetto, scultore, pittore, ingegnere e scenografo della Firenze cinquecentesca. Egli però è ricordato soprattutto per aver inventato il gelato fiorentino: un dessert a base di latte, tuorlo d’uovo e vin santo. Ancora oggi le gelaterie fiorentine propongono questo speciale gusto.
