Génesis 48: Imposición de manos para bendecir.

Génesis 48:8-16:
Entonces Israel vio a los hijos de José y preguntó: —¿Quiénes son estos?
José respondió a su padre: —Son mis hijos, que Dios me ha dado aquí.
Y él dijo: —Por favor, acércamelos para que los bendiga.
Los ojos de Israel estaban tan debilitados por la vejez que no podía ver. Hizo, pues, que ellos se acercaran a él; y él los besó y los abrazó. Y dijo Israel a José: —Yo no esperaba ver tu cara, ¡y he aquí que Dios me ha hecho ver también a tus hijos!
Entonces José los apartó de entre sus rodillas, y se postró con su rostro a tierra. Luego tomó José a ambos: a Efraín a su derecha (a la izquierda de Israel), y a Manasés a su izquierda (a la derecha de Israel); y los acercó a él. Luego Israel extendió su mano derecha y la puso sobre la cabeza de Efraín, que era el menor, y su izquierda la puso sobre la cabeza de Manasés, cruzando sus manos a propósito, a pesar de que el primogénito era Manasés. Y bendijo a José diciendo: —El Dios en cuya presencia anduvieron mis padres Abraham e Isaac, el Dios que me pastorea desde que nací hasta el día de hoy, el Ángel que me redime de todo mal, bendiga a estos jóvenes. Sean ellos llamados por mi nombre y por los nombres de mis padres Abraham e Isaac, y multiplíquense abundantemente en medio de la tierra.


Se acercaba el final de la vida de Jacob. Un hombre que tuvo muchas experiencias impactantes. Varias fueron encuentros sobrenaturales con Dios. Jacob tomó decisiones acertadas y otras equivocadas. Trabajó 7 años para casarse con la mujer que amaba y lo engañaron casándolo con la hermana mayor de ella. Sufrió por la pérdida de su hijo José y se regocijó cuando lo recuperó. Sus hijos cometieron graves errores y Dios lo libró de la muerte muchas veces.

Posiblemente, en tu vida has tenido varias experiencias con altos y bajos, pero sabemos que el Dios de Jacob es el mismo que nosotros adoramos. Él es el Dios que se compadece y es paciente con sus hijos. Que poco a poco va formando el carácter y moldeando el corazón de los que le temen. Que bendice y socorre a aquel que le honra. Que recibe la ofrenda de adoración de aquel que tiene hambre y sed de Dios.
Jacob transmitió este amor por Dios y sus promesas a sus hijos. Él se encargó de que ellos siguieran en el plan divino de Dios para con Israel y su descendencia. ¡Que realmente eso de "la tierra prometida" y "la nación numerosa" eran promesas reales! De ahí que Jacob bendice a sus hijos poniendo sus manos sobre ellos.
En el Nuevo Testamento podemos encontrar varios versos que hacen referencia a esta práctica de fe. Imponiendo las manos y orando en el nombre de Jesús, el enfermo podría ser sanado. Los espíritus malos salían cuando los apóstoles imponían las manos sobre el atormentado y reprendían en el nombre de Jesús. Eso se lograba con fe, ayuno y poder de Dios. También los dones del Espíritu son dados por Dios cuando los ancianos y líderes de la iglesia oran por el nuevo líder.

Usa la autoridad de Dios para que tú también transmitas las promesas de Dios sobre tus hijos. ¡Pon tu mano sobre sus cabezas y bendícelos! Diles todo lo que Dios puede hacer con ellos y enséñales que tenemos una tierra prometida, una celestial, donde viviremos por siempre con Dios. Recuérdales que ellos son bendecidos y que serán también bendición a aquellos que les rodean.
Retomemos ese importante acto de imposición de manos sobre los miembros de nuestro hogar. Dios honrará tu oración de bendición que declares sobre tu familia.

Genesis 48: Laying on of hands to bless.

Genesis 48:8-16:
Then Israel saw Joseph’s sons, and said, “Who are these?”
Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me in this place.”
And he said, “Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.” Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, so that he could not see. Then Joseph brought them near him, and he kissed them and embraced them. And Israel said to Joseph, “I had not thought to see your face; but in fact, God has also shown me your offspring!”
So Joseph brought them from beside his knees, and he bowed down with his face to the earth. And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him. Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn. And he blessed Joseph, and said: “God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day, the Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; let my name be named upon them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”


The end of Jacob's life was near. A man who had many shocking experiences. Several were supernatural encounters with God. Jacob made some right decisions and some wrong ones. He worked 7 years to marry the woman he loved and they tricked him into marrying him with her older sister. He grieved for the loss of his son Joseph and rejoiced when he got him back. His children made serious mistakes and God saved him from death many times.

Possibly, in your life you have had several experiences with ups and downs, but we know that the God of Jacob is the same One that we worship. He is the God who is compassionate and patient with His children. That little by little He is forming the character and molding the heart of those who fear Him. Who blesses and helps the one who honors Him. Who receives the offering of worship from the one who hungers and thirsts for God.
Jacob passed on this love for God and his promises to his sons. He saw to it that they followed in God's divine plan for Israel and their offspring. That "the promised land" and "the numerous nation" really were real promises! Hence Jacob blesses his children by laying his hands on them.
In the New Testament we can find several verses that refer to this practice of faith. By laying on of hands and praying in the name of Jesus, the sick could be healed. The evil spirits came out when the apostles laid their hands on the tormented and rebuked in the name of Jesus. This was achieved with faith, fasting and the power of God. Also the gifts of the Spirit are given by God when the elders and leaders of the church pray for the new leader.

Use God's authority so that you too pass on God's promises to your children. Put your hand on their heads and bless them! Tell them all that God can do with them and teach them that we have a promised land, a heavenly one, where we will live forever with God. Remind them that they are blessed and that they will also be a blessing to those around them.
Let's go back to that important act of laying on of hands on the members of our household. God will honor your prayer of blessing that you declare over your family.
