The WFND research caused the evolution of the Deanna protocol (DP) to be limited to two compounds Alpha ketoglutaric acid (AKG) and Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA). Arginine neutralizes the acidity of AKG and makes the DP palatable. Therefore the DP is AAKG + GABA in proprietary proportions. WFND has offered to fund clinical trials but has been turned down.
