I'm a people watcher. I find great joy in sitting in very crowded places just watching, listening and writing down what makes me chuckle, worry or grow forward. During these moments I hear a lot of people talking about the dreams they had the night before. Most are bad dreams. In fact I rarely hear someone speak of locating victory during those chapters of REM. I've learned if you speak of only one the other begins to make more noise. You have to be equal with sharing the dreams. Bad dreams have amazing ways of controlling our paths during the hours of being awake. We allow the one time mental images to have a voice in what we do, how we decide and act upon. I talk a lot about dreams because I want to be better with awareness. If what I am aware of puts those pictures in motion... I can make better decisions during the awake hours. I openly admit that I pray as well as meditate before jumping into La La Land. But that doesn't stop bad dreams from happening. I am quite good at waking up from dreams. But if you wake up for one you learn to wake up for all. That generates a sleepless night. Sleep meditation has been a brilliant step in the right direction. Learning how to properly meditate is difficult enough. Now train yourself to meditate so peacefully that you give yourself permission to fall asleep. You go pretty deep. But it opens your pattern to a state of holy crap that dream felt too real. Another pitfall of sleep meditation is the length of the rest. Sometimes it's 20 minutes. Other times its just over and hour. Is it real sleep or heavy heavy prayer where you truly do become respectful of mindfulness? Using the path ignites the new morning. When I step into the studio at 530 am there's never any problem with energy or building new creative ideas. Learning more about how you dream opens your heart to having a better new tomorrow.
