Comic-Con first began in March 1970 when a group of science fiction, movie and comic book aficionados launched a one-day convention in San Diego, attracting about 100 attendees. This year, more than 130,000 fans around the globe will converge upon the San Diego Conference Center for Comic-Con International, aka “the Super Bowl for nerds!”
