In episode 19, Sarah Hamilton-Gill FCIPD talks about the work-life balance and how you achieve this. In her Leap into HR Consulting book she uses a Wheel of Life which adds further food for thought, by looking at how you feel about different aspects of your life.
A really important question when setting up your own HR consulting business is ‘What is your why?’ This delves deeper into what you are passionate about, what do you love to do in your career and outside of work, and many more questions. In this podcast, Sarah is joined by Melanie Stevens, the founder of Focus on HR. Melanie has a blended career which has different aspects to it. She went through the Bootcamp in late 2021. Having worked in the corporate world in HR for 8 years, she also had her own Reiki business, but was looking for the freedom and flexibility that self-employment brings.
Melanie talks about where she is in her business and that she has worked as an Associate with other HR consultants, since becoming self-employed. In her experience there is so much work out there and she has become very busy, very quickly, which was something that she wasn’t expecting. There were fears at the start eg would she make enough money, but due to the amount of work around, she hasn’t stopped and is enjoying the variety.
Melanie has just joined the GlobusHR Consulting Ltd team as Client Success Manager for the Leap into HR Consulting Programmes.
