show moreMany people will not speak up or speak against things that are wrong because of the unforgiven sins or unresolved issues or deep feelings of guilt in their lives. Satan wants to use our past trespasses to keep us the current actions we should take. In other words, he uses our indiscretions of yesterday to hold our blessings of tomorrow hostage. He tries to hold our future hostage by binding us to the past so that we are no good in the present.
And if we are no good in the present, feeling unworthy because of past mistakes, many of us will remain quiet when we see others doing wrong. We may think, “Who am I to speak up when my past is tainted with evil?” Well, with all the mass shootings happening in this country, we all need to be speaking up! Let’s examine the text in Acts 5 to learn 3 principles about speaking up.
1.Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him. (vv26-29)
2.Our obedience may embolden others to speak up for righteousness also. (vv30-40)
3.Harassment and persecution are a part of life. (vv41-42)
If we have not already, it is very important that we forgive ourselves. We cannot let our past transgressions keep up from speaking up when we see evil taking place or about to occur. I do not want to hear about another mass shooting. I know you do not either. So when we see something let’s say something. I rather be accused of doing too much than not doing enough. You have a voice. God gave it to you. Use it for His kingdom! Speak up for righteousness!
Amen!
