Scripture texts are Joshua 1.1-9 and 2 Timothy 3.1-5 from the subject “Prioritizing Our Love for God.”

At the time of Paul’s writing, the church was still very young and facing persecution. Most of them were meeting in their homes. They did not have the elaborate buildings we see today. There was no earthly guarantee the church would survive.

It required faith and the right priorities! So, what do people often wrongly prioritize? – an unhealthy love in three areas.

I.The 1st wrong priority Paul mentioned is an unhealthy love of self.
II.The 2nd wrong priority Paul mentioned is an unhealthy love of money.
III.The 3rd wrong priority Paul mentioned is an unhealthy love of pleasure.

An unhealthy love of self, of money, or of pleasure is idolatry. For healthy living, our priority must be our love for God. We prosper when we make our love for God our first most priority. Remember what God told Joshua? This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Jos 1:8 NKJV)

Will you fall in love with Jesus and commit to love God completely, love yourself correctly, and love others compassionately? Amen.
