show moreThis past Friday, many of us heard a message about Good Friday. The people went from praising the King of kings on Sunday to shouting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” on Friday!
On Sunday, they gave Him praise! On Friday, they cursed His name. On Sunday, they celebrated His life. On Friday, they called for His death. On Sunday, they lifted Jesus up! On Friday, they put Him down. Yes. He was down. But He was not out.
Satan has been trying to cancel God’s redemptive plan since the beginning.
•At birth – Matt 1.18-25 (put her away privily)
•As a toddler – Matt 2.13-18 (Herod’s slaughter of kids 2 and under)
•At the beginning of His ministry – Matt 4.1-11; Mark 1.12-13; Luke 4.1-13 (the temptation)
•During His ministry – John 10.31-33; John 11:53-54; John 13.21, 26-27 (leaders and Judas)
•On the cross – John 19.30-33 (when He died)
•And at the tomb – Mark 15.44-47 (when He was buried)
Satan lost at every turn. Jesus was down but not out. You and I will face times when we are down. But hold on because we are never out when we are anchored in the LORD. We have resurrection power in Jesus.
Amen!
