Variety can be a great way to spur new progress, and for optimal results, it should be used strategically. Many people use variety for variety sake. David believes this is fine... As long as lack of motivation and progress are related to lack of variety. However, David explores the idea that if you want to see optimal results, variety may actually be a hindrance.

For general fitness people, variety can help them stay motivated, and depending on their fitness levels, progressing. However, as one increases in fitness levels, a return back to simplicity may be warranted depending on desire goals.
