A conversation with newly appointed Pinckneyville Middle School principal Todd Marschke, Marschke is a product of Gwinnett County Public Schools where he attended Head Elementary, Shiloh Middle School, and graduated from Shiloh High School. He is also a graduate of Georgia State University. His teaching career started as a middle school gifted math and science teacher at Alton C. Crews Middle School. Todd transitioned from Crews Middle School to Lanier Middle School for his first administrative position. For the last seven years, he has served as principal in the Norcross cluster at GIVE Center West.
A talk about Gwinnett County’s school safety plans. Joining us was Major Kirk Williamson, of Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department and Lt. Tony Lockard, of Gwinnett County School Police.
Alan Kaplan and I had an hour-long conversation that touched on existing programs to keep our kids safe, train teachers and students in safety measures for severe weather, violence, and other dangers. We also discussed issues surrounding: arming teachers and staff, “hardening” schools, legislation, campus carry and more.
