You can adjust your perspective and ease your emotional response. - Your amygdala (reptilian brain) operates in on/off. It does not reason. In any situation, when you feel your stomach clench (or other physical response), you have the ability to provide yourself with context, which can turn the amygdala off, so that your body will relax instead of going into fight/flight response. - You can take the third person approach with yourself…provide yourself with context and tell yourself that it will be OK because in most situations, it will be! - How a change of scenery can help quiet your mind and soothe you. - And so much more! Incredibly, this was soon followed by discovering she had a massive brain tumor, thankfully benign. In both situations, Becca worked hard to get back to being in charge, to getting back on the “success train” she had always been on. But after getting back to work, she was miserable. Becca recognized that it was time to create her own definition of success and to live by it. D > CS = SR To reduce your stress, you can reduce your demands or increase your coping skills or both. We go into detail about the elements of the formula…demands (work, personal, etc.), coping skills (meditation, exercise, sleep, etc.), and stress reactions (insomnia, anxiety, physical symptoms, etc.)…as well as how this approach can be used by leaders/managers to help their teams. When feeling overwhelmed you may think you don’t have enough time to meditate, exercise, take a break, take a nap, etc., so instead of increasing time you put into a coping skill, you reduce it. That actually works against you! When you feel stressed, it is a signal that it’s time to increase your coping skills (and reduce your demands) so you decrease stress. Join us and start lowering your stress! What you’ll learn: - Noticing and identifying the demands on you will enable you to more effectively reduce them.     5 JUN 2023 · Do you feel frustrated with the way you are perceived or labeled at work/at home/in life, when you know you contribute more and deserve to be recognized accordingly? After moving from India to Dubai, Shruti Rustagi, was offered what she considered to be an amazing opportunity with Amazon though it was at a little lower level than she wanted. Her mindcluck kicked in right away being in a new place, a new industry, etc. She was beating herself up for any little mistake and was so unhappy she thought she needed to quit. She felt like a failure. Shruti started doing “Morning Pages,” writing for 10 minutes eveyr morning to get out her thoughts and emotions.
