  • Robert B. McGuinness - From Career to Calling: What Does It Take to Make the Leap?

2 JUN 2020 · Robert B. McGuinness – From Career to Calling: What Does It Take to Make the Leap? Aired Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Are you serving your highest calling? Are you living a life of deep satisfaction and purpose? Does your work give you this purpose, or is it simply a career to meet expenses and pay the mortgage? Are you experiencing the frustration of knowing deep-down that there is something else you need to be doing, that there is some other reason why you are here, and that you just don’t see a way to get there? If you find that you are not serving your calling, or if you aren’t sure what that is, you are not alone. Join us this week on Decide to Transform as Robert B. McGuinness, CEO and Founder of Soul Venturer, LLC shares with us his own personal journey from career to calling, and what it took to make the leap. At a former desk job in New York City, Robert felt like he didn’t belong, and that he was meant for something bigger, even though he didn’t at first know what. Eventually, he asked how it could be done. How could he make the leap from career to deepest calling? A journey of deep personal discovery followed. Along the way, Robert has worked with some of the world’s leading experts in business and spiritual spaces, including Dr. Joe Vitale, Tony Robbins, and Dr. Donny Epstein, and shares with us some of his most profound lessons. The transition from a career to a calling requires diligence and commitment, but it all starts with a decision. On the show Robert shares with us his most difficult decisions, and his most meaningful. He also shares his advice and suggestions for anyone looking to make a similar transition in life. To stand in your calling involves a journey, perhaps the most important journey of all: the journey back to yourself. About Robert B. McGuinness Robert B. • Surviving Psychological Warfare

12 MAY 2020 · Surviving Psychological Warfare Aired Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST When we grow up in a tense and volatile environment, or when we find ourselves in such an environment as an adult—say in an abusive relationship—we tend to think of the hostility as “just life,” “the way it is.” As we tell ourselves it’s just our lot, we grow to believe it, and numb ourselves to all kinds of pain. That is until we don’t, until we can’t take it any more. This week’s episode of Decide to Transform is all about what you do when you can’t take it any more. It is also about bringing yourself to that point, especially if you know you need to take action and you can’t bring yourself to. Lastly, it is about the emotional, psychological, and vast personal rewards to you of doing the difficult work in your own self-interest. Even though I have never served in the military, I know what persistent psychological warfare looks like, and feels like. Perhaps you can relate. This behavior takes place every day in many, many contexts. Join me this week as I share some personal details of my own experience in hostile, volatile environments. I will share how this impacted me, as well as what I did—mostly mentally—to pry myself away. I know someone out there will benefit from hearing this. Many people do not consider abuse warfare. Rest assured: it is. Happily, tools and resources exist to help all kinds of people embroiled in psychological conflict. I invite you to tune in for a message of hope and possibility. I can tell you from personal experience that is possible to emerge from extreme hostility a stronger, loving, more giving person, also one that can insist on their own value. If you or someone you know would benefit from this message, please tune in this week. It is possible not just to survive, but to thrive afterward. • Forgiveness and Release

5 MAY 2020 · Forgiveness and Release Aired Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Join me this week as we delve into the critically important but much misunderstood topic of forgiveness. What are you ready to forgive today, and whom? For most of us, forgiveness can be a challenging subject. When someone wrongs us, modern culture all too often preaches retaliation and abuse. No wonder people feel fearful! How we respond to an affront, whether real or perceived, matters. It matters deeply. Forgiving an offense and an offender takes us from a place of victimhood and powerlessness to a space of true power, maturity, and peace. This is not an easy practice. Fortunately, world spirituality has much to say on the subject, and there is much a person can do to practice forgiveness, true forgiveness. The real deal is quite different from the shallow, strings-attached forgiveness practiced all too commonly in the world. Tune in this week as we explore examples and practices from various world spiritual traditions. Forgiveness means release. Release of what? For starters, release of fear, for both the forgiver and the forgiven. All parties also receive a lightening of guilt, of burdens that need not exist. A solid practice of forgiveness—yes, it’s possible—clears the pathway for peace of mind and, ultimately, spiritual realization. Do you have a long road to get there? No problem; we all do. On the show I will share some personal details from my own experience, including the long but greatly rewarding process of forgiving my own mother of a lifetime of abusive behavior. I will also address some common misconceptions, most notably that forgiving someone equates to putting up with a pattern of abusive or unwanted behavior. It does not. Learn how you can both hold space and compassion for someone else and stand up for yourself at the same time. It is indeed possible, and oh so liberating! • Standing Up To Difficult People: A Personal Exposé

28 APR 2020 · Standing Up To Difficult People: A Personal Exposé Aired Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Everyone likes to hear a personal story. On some level, we can all relate to somebody else’s experience, and hopefully learn how we can transform our own. Join me this week on Decide to Transform as I delve into the all-important subject of dealing with difficult—and I mean persistently difficult—people. Everyone has experience with the kind of person we are talking about: one who disapproves of us, constantly criticizes, projects their own insecurities and looks to constantly drag us down. For some, this is a boss or work associate, for others a spouse or romantic partner, for others a family member. In my case, this person was my own mother. If you find yourself locked in a relationship with a toxic and emotionally stultifying person, you will want to tune in this week as I share honestly and directly about my own experience. There are many resources about conflict resolution in the world, and many techniques and strategies available. Ultimately, handling a persistently damaging person requires a firm decision on our part to stand up for ourselves. This can be a painful and difficult decision to make. For me, it took years and quite a lot of suffering. It can be done, however, firmly and definitively. If you have done this you will know. If you haven’t and you would like to, this will be a show not to miss! On the show I will share in detail what I did to create the emotional space for myself to live my own life. This simple decision, while not easy to come to, eventually changed everything. You will find that creating this space involves the painful first decision to create it. Once that is made, however, freedom pours in, and pours in quickly. Learn this week what I did wrong for decades, and what I finally did right. Join me! • Out of My Head: A Stubborn Person’s Road to Spiritual Recovery

21 APR 2020 · Out of My Head: A Stubborn Person’s Road to Spiritual Recovery Aired Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Have you ever had the feeling that you weren’t fully present for your own life? Do you feel that way now? So often we find ourselves feeling stuck or just trudging through each day, just “getting by.” So often we get the sense that there is something more out there, a relationship we are meat to have or work we are meant to do. If you currently find yourself in this place of numbness and frustration, know that you are not alone. All of us have been here at one time or another. Join me this week on Decide to Transform as I tell my own story of frustration to fulfillment. For years as a young adult I found myself living other people’s lives, following other people’s expectations and ignoring my own calling. Why did I attend law school and push myself through to graduation? Because I felt it was expected of me. Why did I then choose a related career that sucked my energy almost to the breaking point and plunged me into depression? Because I felt other people expected it of me, and came to consider this life as “the norm.” Through all this time, I was very much in my head. My gut kept telling me to switch directions, and for years I ignored it. This produced nothing less than a spiritual crisis. On this week’s show I will share how I learned to get out of my head, how I learned to listen to my heart and my intuition, how I learned to take several steps back and listen to Divine guidance. I know you will relate to this personal exposé. I happily share what didn’t work for me—and what did—so that you may benefit from my experience. I was completely out of my head, as people commonly say, but the problem was I was too far in it. I needed to get out of it. When I did, the entire world shifted. This can happen for you, too. • Healing the Mind

14 APR 2020 · Healing the Mind Aired Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Every moment of every day we have an opportunity. We have an opportunity to heal. Whether we do is up to us. We have only to make the decision to heal—and commit to it. What does this involve? First and foremost, healing is of the mind. Yes, the physical body may experience relief of certain symptoms, but whether it does or doesn’t is not the point of healing. Like all personal transformation, healing is an inside job. It begins with the mind. The COVID-19 pandemic, ironically enough, presents us with a tremendous opportunity to examine our mindsets and our lives, and to go deep and begin to heal. It is most definitely a process, not a one-time thing. Join me this week on Decide to Transform as I present a different take on the current pandemic: This is a fabulous opportunity for us to heal. World spiritual traditions talk about healing in many interesting and helpful ways. You can put this wisdom into practice in your daily life; I will show you some of the ways how. This week we will detail several practices—all of which you can easily do—that will help orient your mind toward healing, and allow the rest of your being to follow. While I work extensively with meditation, this is only one method; there are many ways to work with the mind that do not involve taking a seat in silent contemplation. In our daily lives with all our responsibilities, we overlook many of them. I invite you to go to work on your mind this week. In truth, it has always been a good time to heal, it is an excellent time right now, and when this pandemic has ended, everything we cover on the show this week will still be relevant. Healing is timeless, and oh so worth every moment of your effort. Join me and start to truly heal. • Critical Self-Care: The Art of Staying Calm

7 APR 2020 · Critical Self-Care: The Art of Staying Calm Aired Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Staying calm has always had its virtues, now more than ever. In this unprecedented time of social distancing, shelter-in-place orders, and nonstop dissemination of fear, how you show up matters. It matters for you, for your family, and for the world as a whole. Quite literally, we are all in this together, and it matters greatly that you keep your cool. Are you struggling with this? If so, that’s understandable. Few if any of us have ever lived through a pandemic. Stress and emotions can run high during these times, but it is important to remember that this moment calls for self-reflection, and for putting to use your tools for maintaining your equilibrium. If you would like to learn more tools, you have come to the right place! Join me this week on Decide to Transform as we discuss select techniques for staying calm, as well as their benefits. More importantly, put some of these techniques into practice as I lead you on not one, not two, but three different guided meditations. Experience the benefits of creating mental space in your life when creating physical space may be hard—or impossible. Also, experience the benefits of making different, more uplifting and serving choices. More than anything, learning to stay calm will send a message to yourself and everyone around you that it is okay to take care of yourself. It is okay to stay mentally healthy. It is okay—indeed expected—to radiate Love and positivity to the greatest degree possible. Whether we hold ourselves out as teachers by profession, we are all teaching one another, and we are all learning. Teach calmness; teach Love. Let me show you how. • Transformation 101: Our Limiting Stories

31 MAR 2020 · Transformation 101: Our Limiting Stories Aired Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST We would all love to say that it’s untrue, but we limit ourselves. Whether in blatant ways or subtly, we get in our way as a matter of habit and keep ourselves stuck, frustrated, and unhappy. If for some reason we experience some joy and happiness, it does not last. Wouldn’t you like to make it last? Wouldn’t you like your life to be a steady stream of abundance and miracles? If you answered yes, I invite you to join me this week as we continue the mini-series Transformation 101 with a deeper examination of our limiting stories. Listening to them keeps us stuck. There are many limiting stories that we tell ourselves. We might say, for example, “I’m too old.” Similarly, we might say that something we really want “just isn’t for me” or that “I don’t have time.” There are as many limiting stories as there are people; I am just naming a few of them here. Every limiting story is a manifestation of fear. It is fear that keeps you stuck when deep-down you crave a new, transformed reality. Without a decision to change—to transform—these liming stories will sound convincing to you and any changes you do make will be short-lived. You will dabble, you will struggle, and you will come no closer to your stated goal, whatever that may be. Decide to recognize the limiting stories you are telling yourself, then commit to moving beyond them. During the show I will relate some personal examples of how I used liming stories to keep myself stuck and miserable. Seriously, this has happened to all of us! Also enjoy the answers to some hard-hitting listener questions and a short guided meditation on moving past a limiting story for greater mental flexibility and freedom, also peace, abundance, and a life of harmony and flow. Here is the best thing about your limiting stories: they are not true. • Transformation 101: The Two Truths

24 MAR 2020 · Transformation 101: The Two Truths Aired Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST Those familiar with Eastern philosophy will recognize the concept of the Two Truths: Absolute and Relative. These ideas can help us tremendously to understand our experience, and to make better decisions every day to grow spiritually and further Massive Transformation in our lives. They feature this week in our series Transformation 101. Here is the fundamental difference between the Absolute and the Relative: Absolute Truth refers to what is, Relative Truth to what appears to be. If you’re reading into this that one is real and one is not, you would be right. Exactly right. Eastern philosophy refers to Absolute Truth as the Nature of Mind or the Ground of All Being. In Western terms, we might call it God, Spirit, Source, the Universe, etc. It simply is. In Relative Truth, the world plays out with all its myriad experiences. In the world with all its variance, it can be a challenge to see another’s needs as our own. Yet this remains our task if we would grow and transform our experience. When our apparent differences seem so pronounced, how can we see past the differences for greater communication and understanding? The answer lies in Absolute Truth; we seek answers from spiritual practice. The only way to escape an unhappy situation is to seek solutions from outside the confines of that situation. We break out of a psychological prison by coming to realize that there are no walls. Join me this week for a spotlight on the importance of spirituality and its prominence in our lives. Experience a guided meditation and entertain the idea—call it the truth—that everything and everyone is spiritual. Go deep, and get the answers you have been looking for.
