  • Need your car repaired? You could be waiting months because of supply chain issues with parts | Arkansas via FOX News Radio | 2/17/23

8 MAR 2023 · FOX News Radio recently asked Joanne Moretti to come on the air 🎙 in Little Rock, AR to discuss supply chain problems in the auto industry as they have affected waiting periods for car repairs. According to Moretti, the issues in the supply chain in the auto industry, which are only getting worse, began before the pandemic. These problems began, she says, with a big tsunami that hit Japan in March 2011 that caused Japanese companies to shut down for weeks. The ongoing trade wars, pandemic, port congestions, and trucking protests in Canada have only made things worse. To solve these problems, Moretti says that people are looking to technology, automation through digital applications, and cloud services to move things around and to solve these problems. She stated that companies are looking at how they should reorganize their supply chain at every step to solve these problems. 85% of companies are trying to figure out how they’re going to supply their products better. Companies are trying to do supply chain tests and risk assessments to mitigate risk and are trying to solve problems before they happen. Moretti emphasized the need for supply chain experts and data analysts to solve these problems. She also stressed the need for technology as companies look to automate their systems, which would lead to creating more jobs in technology. Factories will transition where machine programming will require more expertise, which can create more opportunities for people looking for jobs in the technology space.
