The Voodoo Priestess
Scoping the room I observed a thin framed black man in a shiny burgundy smoking jacket leaning over a woman.
He was saying... "Come on Mary!" "Please Mary!"
Mary was picking at and cleaning her fingernails with a small switch blade knife. She was conscious of our presence but remained quietly seated as he begged.
In the center of the kitchen table was an opened book, it looked like a large family Bible. As I sat down I saw it was marked up with strange writings not common for a Bible.
Mary smiled as she saw me look at the book. I said what is this? She said the Voodoo Bible and waited for me to respond. I responded, "Is this for John? Are you keeping him afraid of you?" She said "Yes!"
