Remnant cholesterol is a lesser known lipid measurement when it comes to diagnosing and managing dydlipidemia. However, highly elevated remnant cholesterol levels have been shown to increase a persons risk for athersclerotic heart disease (ASCVD), heart attack, new-onset type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, low-grade systemic inflammation, and mortality. In fact, remnant cholesterol has been shown to predict cardiovascular disease beyond LDL and ApoB in patients without known ASCVD. Lastly.
