The future IS female — in large part because of the bold, inspiring women who have blazed trails for future generations. They’re women whose efforts, past and present, are reshaping leadership and what it means to be female. As we approach the 100th anniversary of the U.S. constitutional amendment confirming women’s right to vote, a powerful new book from National Geographic showcases iconic women around the world. WOMEN: The National Geographic Image Collection illuminates, celebrates and reflects on where the world’s women have been, where they are now and where they are going. The magazine issue is available online now at natgeo.com/womenofimpact. Check out #NatGeoWomenofImpact

This bold and inspiring book from National Geographic mines over 130 years of photography with stunning images from more than 50 countries. Each page offers compelling testimony about what it means to be female, from historic suffragettes to famous women’s soccer player Alex Morgan. Organized around chapter themes like grit, love, and joy, the book features brand-new commentary from a wide swath of luminaries including Laura Bush, Gloria Allred, Oprah Winfrey, Roxane Gay, Melinda Gates, New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern, and the founders of the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements. Each is accompanied by a bold new portrait, shot by acclaimed NG photographer Erika Larsen.
