In the tumultuous landscape of Costaguana, Señor Gould, a native of English descent, grows weary of the relentless political instability and pervasive corruption plaguing his beloved country. Determined to see a brighter future, he supports the Ribierist movement, believing it will restore order after years of tyranny. However, the wealth from his silver mine in Sulaco becomes a beacon for local warlords, igniting a fierce struggle for power that plunges the nation into chaos once more. Amidst this turmoil, the revolutionary Montero invades Sulaco, and Señor Gould places his trust in Nostromo, the esteemed capataz de los cargadores, or head longshoreman. An Italian expatriate known for his audacious exploits, Nostromo—whose real name is Giovanni Battista Fidanza—embodies ambition and self-interest. While Señor Gould sees him as incorruptible and assigns him the daunting task of concealing the silver from revolutionaries, Nostromos motivations are driven not by loyalty but by a desire to elevate his own fame.
