Martin Oosthuizen was born in 1965 and grew up in the small town of Senekal in the Free State - South Africa. After matriculating there he completed two years of national service as an officer in the South African defence force. He then completed his tertiary studies at the University of Pretoria where he was awarded a B. Com degree (marketing, human resource management). He married in 1991 and has two young children. He now lives in the wine making Constantia valley, just outside Cape Town. He is the author of the book "More Than a Million Canaries", owner of a Tour Operator agency and founder of the Orphan Care Foundation. Since his book was published in 2009 he has spoken on local radio stations and appeared in newspaper and national magazines about his journey of overcoming financial ruin and sowing hope into the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. In his book he shares the highs and lows, the pain and triumph of overcoming financial crisis and the emotional turmoil that accompanies it. He learnt to listen to the Voice inside that strengthens you with the bread of life and by implementing practical steps to get back on track, both emotionally and financially. He has been restored financially even during the most difficult time in the global financial crisis that affected the Travel industry severely. He started a foundation caring for orphaned and vulnerable children - "Orphan Care Foundation" sowing love, hope and purpose into lives of children without parents. South Africa currently has more than 2 million aids orphans. Martin's vision is to share his message of hope around the world and to get his book into the hands of those who need this message of hope and inspiration.
