Cholesterol Drugs for 8-Year-Olds? Doctor Says It Means the Parents Have Lost Control - Monday, The American Academy of Pediatrics recommended children as young as 8 be put on high-powered statin drugs to lower their cholesterol. Founder of VitalCare Diabetes Treatment Centers, Dr. Marc Rose, says, "If a child is at the point where they need to be on adult drugs it means the parents are doing something wrong. And this ruling will enable their bad habits. America is now saying instead of fixing the problem of a broken metabolism (the cause of diabetes and the cause of high cholesterol) it's ok to give these young kids a 'magic pill' to make one of the symptoms go away. The same kind of parents who let their kids get into such bad health to begin with will now be pushing pediatricians to prescribe this easy way out.
