Omar El Akkad presented his first published novel, American War in the Wordfest Lab on May 24, 2017. The novel depicts America struggling with civil war, a manufactured plague, and environmental fallback due to global warming. The book provides readers with a frighteningly realistic depiction of the future of the world and the consequences of human egotism.
