Despite its enormous wealth of beautiful things to see, many of the tourists that land in Tuscany seem particularly excited by the idea of tasting the great products of this land. While known for its simplicity and affordability, our ancestors were particularly creative when it came to cooking meat, a rare delicacy that could be tasted very occasionally by regular people. That's maybe why modern Tuscans are obsessed with meat, especially when it comes in the form of huge, juicy steaks. While this is true, there is a exotic breed of cows that has been around forever and that, according to some top chefs, could be even better than the famous Chianina. What could very well be one of Tuscany's best kept secret is not well known even in our region. It has a name that sounds funny in Italian but it's dead serious when it comes to great taste and texture. That's why this week, What's Up Tuscany will bring you on the coast to tell you the story of the mucco pisano, the ancient breed that came very close to extinction and is living a remarkable comeback. If you listen to the full episode, you will learn this story of this hardy cow, why it is so special, the recipes Pisani swear by and the best restaurants where you could taste this incredible meat. Follow us, we will tell you why the mucco could be the best steak you never had. Let us know if you liked this episode or anything else that comes to mind. Everything is welcome: questions, doubts, requests for future episodes, anything that starts a conversation is very welcome! We'd love to get to know you better and help you in any way we can.
