Episode 2: Noah's Ark (Genesis 4-9)
Jul 18, 2021 · 1h 5m 7s
Today, Lily and I discuss whether humans count as clean or unclean animals according to biblical rules...and fancy cheese. And there's an ark or something.

One other thing that comes to mind talking about Able offering selected parts of the animal strongly suggests that they already have established the art of butchering a carcass. This isn't quite as simple as just hacking at it with a blade and a bone saw. You would need some training to properly identify the parts you were looking for in there and some skill to cleanly make the required cuts. Where he would have learned this skill had they not already been practicing the art of butchery is unclear, which implies they were already using livestock for more than just wool by this point because they know how to properly butcher them.

Adam's dying just shy of 1,000 years actually wouldn't invalidate the "same-day" curse if you factor in Psalm 90:4, "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." Maybe that was referencing an idea that was around when Genesis was written? Or perhaps it was an apologetic of the day to explain away the "you will die today after over 900 years" curse.

Isn't is possible the fatty parts of the sheep were being used for the tallow... for candles/lamps and the like?

I love the idea that there were a load of other Gardens of Eden, with other Adams and Eves in them, It'd be a great idea for an SF film, except that it's kind of been done with the Tom Cruise film Oblivion.

And God created the internet. And the internet bore two children, Cable and WiFi. But then, WiFi killed Cable.

And following on from my comment on the first episode (and the Daniel Quinn explanation of why the sheep was acceptable but not the fruits) is because it's the farmers who were going around doing the murdering of anyone who they felt was getting in the way of them growing crops.

That young lady is smarter than me. All the years I was an xtn, it never crossed my mind to read the Wholly Fable with an ounce of reflective thinking. I am only eight minutes in and at Gen 4:13 Cable said everyone would kill him. It never crossed my mind to think where did the 'everyone' come from. Vice, you might already know about childhood development stages and your clever little Rhinette, is entering that abstract thinking stage and it was evident when Rhinette asked. How can there be other people as there are only three? Her question knocked my socks and shoes off. Thanks for your efforts and the clever Rhinette interactions.

Still near the beginning here: Lilly sounds very enthusiastic, she'd been looking forward to episode 2 hadn't she? 😃 Also you should introduce her to the X-Men and show her Cable, just for the fun of her mixing up the name.

This podcast isn't just listening to "a" child commenting on the bible : your daughter is a treat to listen to ! She's an amazingly smart little girl and so vivid. You raised her so well 😄 I'll be more than happy to hear more of you and Lilly.
