As a vet, how many cases of animal abuse do you think you've seen that were presented as (say) 'hit by car'? or 'fell off the verandah?' - Perhaps a better question might be - how many have you missed?
And was the client really telling the whole story? - after all they may well have been the other 'victim' of what is increasingly becoming more common here in Australia.
Violence against animals at home almost always has a link to domestic violence in those same human/animal relationships.
