Coming off of my collaborations with Sarah Turney and Kendall Rae I was very hurt by many of the comments that were being made. I wanted to take some time with Dr. Ashley Wellman and Dr. Jules to discuss the impacts of Domestic Violence and the implications of victim-blaming. Dr. Jules hosts the very popular podcast Riddle Me That please give her a listen. Dr. Wellman is a criminologist and she brings an amazing perspective to this conversation. Please listen to the bonus live recording of my conversation with these two incredible women.

I have a BS in Criminal Justice. As I studied I was stunned by how many people teaching subjects that inform on victimology don’t really get it. I also was a sexual target as a child. I told and told and told. No one helped. Our priest told my mom I was young enough that I would forget about it. The abuse continued for seven more years. I view it as being a target not as a victim. I was chosen and unprotected because I was vulnerable and my safety was less important than the view. I never hesitate to speak about abuse mine or others. I am a born advocate, facilitator, and empath. The target has very little control over what happens to them or how they finally remove themselves but are expected to recover and own the abuse inflicted upon them. Eric most men who are abused who do come out as an advocate or just to speak do it in their thirties or forties. It is socially more shameful to be abused if you are male for some reason...no matter how young/old you are. Much love and keep up your good works.
