I don't know why some have a hard time grasping this. I'm really a peacemaker. But part of being a peacemaker is to be willing to ensure peace is possible - even if the use of force (God forbid) is ever needed.

That's right. Same thing I tell my kids. I say something like: "Sometimes they only way to stop someone intent on doing bad is to physically stop them." Seems that basic truth is lost on many in today's America, huh?!

It had to be an incredibly difficult decision to make. And horrific though it was, it was the right decision. Japan was the aggressor. We tried to avoid using the bomb & wanted their surrender. But they insisted on fighting to the death. It saved millions of lives and ushered in a quick surrender.
