The Institute of Medicine reports that over 100 million people suffer from chronic pain compared to 25.8 million from diabetes, 16.3 million from coronary heart disease, and 11.7 million from cancer.  In 2004 Americans spent $16.6 billion to relieve pain, most of it to purchase over-the counter or prescription drugs. No matter how you measure it, pain is a big problem: for the person in pain, those providing treatment, the insurer, the employer waiting for an employee to return to work, the kids who want their parent to play, and other family members living with that person in pain. Unfortunately, conventional approaches to the treatment of pain so often do not improve the situation.

Dr. Heather Tick has spent twenty-five years practicing pain management. Patients often seek her out after “all else has failed.” Because she came to the study of pain after her own experience with it, she is sought after for both her expertise and her empathy. Join us as she shares insights from her book offering a solution to the pain problem—Holistic Pain Relief: Dr. Tick’s Breakthrough Strategies to Manage and Eliminate Pain.  Dr. Tick seeks to empower people with knowledge so they can help themselves and seek out quality care that is not damaging. Her goal is "always to treat people with compassion, to ease their suffering and to reassure them that their voices are heard.” Empower yourself by tuning in to see how YOU can manage and eliminate pain through use of this book, exploring the pros and cons of a wide range of Western and alternative treatments. We hope to hear you there!

Dr. Tick has been an integrative medical practitioner for over 20 years. A sought-after speaker, she lives in Seattle and works at the University of Washington, where she is the first Gunn-Loke Endowed Professor for Integrative Pain Medicine. Visit her online at http://www.heathertickmd.com.
