This is always a hard one to discuss. My sister passed last year, and she was diagnosed as bipolar in our teen years in the late 80's, back when they would dose her heavily with lithium. There was some trauma in the past, and she never really maintained therapy. Her final years were rife with unhealthy, sel-destructive behavior...especially regarding drug & alcohol abuse.
Thank you for bringing this conversation to your podcast. The rest of us...we (the general public) could use some pointers on how to approach this in a manner that helps. Again...tough subject for me, and it hits home in a big way.
