Hi folks. Loved the listen, it's made me want to go and watch it again. Pretty much agree with what's been said - the wedding sequence, Jesus, I feel like I'm a guest at it every time I watch - could easily have lost thirty minutes and I owuldn't be too fussed. But that ending. I think Cimino sidestepped the 'jingoism' arguments with it, pretty succesfully, if you look at the fact that they've come back from Nick's funeral, all of them genuinely heartbroken - this wouldn't have worked as well if Stan or Michael had died, but everyone of them seemed to love Nick - and the first thing they do is sing God Bless America. Celebrating the system that had him drafted and killed, and none of them realise it. Floored me.
