Pay attention to what's going on in your local schools and school districts...
The Greater Clark County School Board in Jeffersonville, Indiana, considers eliminating the valedictorian system because it creates “unhealthy competition.”
Teachers can help set kids up to be more productive employees and citizens by pushing them to be the best they can be, not just giving them credit for "showing up"!
When you make everybody LOOK like a winner (a la "participation trophy") it means NOTHING! What's the point? Why bother trying?
