A young soldier recently returned from Afghanistan is attacked by a drunk individual. he stabs the guy. He is sober, so are the 3 witnesses. The only individual who has...

A young soldier recently returned from Afghanistan is attacked by a drunk individual. he stabs the guy. He is sober, so are the 3 witnesses. The only individual who has been drinking is the one who slammed this young soldier against a wall with an intent to cause harm.
The soldier is now charged with :
1. Attempted assault with intent to murder,
2. Assault to do great bodily harm less than murder,
3. And assault with a dangerous weapon.
These charges can put him in jail for life. He is 22. He has PTSD and is about to be a dad.
