MLB is BACK! We had 2 games yesterday, the Nats and the Skankees and the Doyers and the Giants. The early game was called on a count of a monsoon hitting Washington. By the break the Yankees were up 4-1 on the Nats. It was a rain delay… but later on in the evening the game was called and that was the final. Cole looked phenomenal, while Schezer made a few mistakes that the Yankees jumped all over. Gioncarlo Stanton hit the 1st home run of the 2020 season with a 459 ft bomb! How do you feel about them calling the game? Should they have finished off the game at another date? Double header day? With a shortened season, every game, every inning matters. The Nationals had 3 innings taken away. That's 9 chances to get back into the game. What do you think?

KERSHAW GETS SCRATCHED - The Dodgers had to scratch Clayton Kershaw as their opening day starter. Calling up Fire-Baller Dustin May. May became the 1st rookie to start for the boys in blue since Fernando Valenzuela in the 1981 season. On the other side of the bump the Giants biggest news is having the first female coach in the MLB. Alyssa Nakken, is the first female to coach on the field during a major league game. Welcome Alyssa!

BETTS CONTRACT EXTENSION - Also in Dodger News, Mookie Betts and the Dodgers have agreed on a 12 year $380 million dollar contract. $114 million of that will be deferred money which means Mookie will be on that Bobby Bonilla contract.. Getting paid until 2044 when Mookie turns 52. Mookie already earning his money last night, getting into position to score on a bang bang play at home for the go ahead run… even though the dodgers scored 6 more on top of that.. It was quite impressive and he is already paying dividends.

Expanded Playoffs are happening this season. Top 2 Teams in every division make it along with the 2 best other teams in their respective league. 1 plays 8 , 2 plays 7, etc etc. 1st set of games are best of 3, all 3 of the games will be played at the highest seed home field. Divisional and Championship games will stay the same.

Finally 3 of the proposed pre-season MVP Candidates for the AL are Angels. Trout, Rendon and Otahni.

The Atlanta Braves, hours before their opening day game against the New York Mets, are giving us an example of how playing baseball during a pandemic can quickly turn chaotic.

Boxing -
Iron Mike Tyson is coming out of… what we can only call retirement… to fight an 8 round exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr on Sept 12th. We talked about this a few shows ago, Tyson looks like an animal right now. So i know its just a spectacle but man… I am so going to watch it.



NFL -
The deal is done!! There will be football!!Next year’s salary cap would be no lower than $175m. If revenues are better than expected, it could be higher. If worse, it would have to be accounted for in future years through 2024. But a cap minimum to assure a reasonable floor in 2021 was important to the players.

Washington … Football Team… Now i know it's a temporary name for the team till the official “nickname” is chosen, but all this time.. And THIS is the best you got? What was your favorite name that was rumored? I liked the thought of the Washington Red Tails, after the Tuskegee Airmen, the first all black squadron who fought in WW2.
