What can you do if you witness verbal put downs, like a cruel joke, an abusive remark, or a racist slur? YOU SPEAK UP AND SPEAK OUT. No more letting it go. No more overlooking, or giving the benefit of the doubt. Being silent is always support for the abuser, and never for the victim. It's time for the bigoted and even the insensitive to hear from you, that you would rather not hear from them in that way. Just calmly say, "Please, let's not talk like that. I don't like it."
