On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to South of Eden. Pipeman expresses how ballsy it was for them to cover a Zeppelin song at Louder than Life and Aftershock which leads to South of Eden discussing how they were so excited to perform and had been looking forward to these two shows specifically for the last two years. South of Eden mention how great is feels when they get to perform for huge crowds of people just singing along. South of Eden explain how the essence of who they are is all about not caring what anyone else is doing because they feel as though the work genre is a word that is used way too often. South of Eden state that rock and roll is an expression and a way of being not just a genre. Pipeman speaks about how he feels like some bands these days are just following an algebraic equation to make a song and how music is losing some of its magic because of this. South of Eden talks about how they love rock and roll because it’s the outcast and how they agree and also feel like when artist are copying other artist and following the same creation method they’re just being a determent to themselves because they’re not being true to who they are and people can tell when that happens. Pipeman and South of Eden discuss the attention span of newer generations and how ‘jam’ bands have dramatically changed over the years. South of Eden state that you have to truly captivate someone so quickly now in order for them to not click next and skip your music. They express how their way of captivating people is to stay true to themselves and create music that is fun for them. Pipeman and South of Eden also converse about music school and how you can lose a lot of the magic of the music when you focus too deeply on trying to figure out why it’s good and why it works. Pipeman states that music is purely expression and you can’t make good music without expression. Excitingly, South of Eden share how they have dropped their label and are releasing an independent album by the end of the year. South of Eden share how their plans for the future are to continue to grow and keep doing whatever they want to be doing.
