The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community are about 10 percent of the population who may experience barriers to care and healthcare professional discrimination, personal attitudes, and perceptions. General cancer issues noted were: more likely to smoke than general population, not having a Pap smear, less likely to have a mammography, more likely exposure to hepatitis B virus infection, and increased likelihood of some types of cancer—even AIDS-related cancers.
