When Andrea Wilson Woods first became a patient advocate, she shied away from telling her story even though she founded a nonprofit in her sister’s name. Due to intense grief and desire for privacy, Andrea discussed the FACTS about liver cancer, not what motivated her to stand up for patients and caregivers. One day, when fighting for a bill in Congress, she saw someone’s eyes glaze over. That’s when she realized numbers don’t cause change, stories do. Because in the end, we all become stories.
