the phoenix lights mass sighting is a good example of how MUFON controls UFO sighting information. you'll often hear the news media say there were thousands of witnesses to the March 1997 sighting. but you won't hear MUFON saying that and if you try research their data on that sighting, you won't find thousands of reports. you won't even find 100 reports. and you won't find any witnesses who were able get in contact with each other through MUFON to discuss their sighting with each other. Any UFO sighting information submitted to MUFON flows one way only, straight to the chosen few at the top of the MUFON hierarchy.

and if you include your contact information in your report asking for other witnesses to contact you, MUFON will remove your message to prevent other witnesses from contacting you.

for example, if you are a witness to a UFO sighting and you submit a report to MUFON, only MUFON will know how many other witnesses there were to that sighting. You will NEVER know how many other people witnessed your same sighting and you will NEVER be able to contact them through MUFON. MUFON will not facilitate any contact or discussion among the witnesses. MUFON keeps every witness completely isolated.

MUFON does NOT allow witnesses to contact each other through their organization. They do not want witnesses getting together and talking to each other. Communication in MUFON goes one way only. You the witness provide your data to MUFON and you as a witness then remain completely isolated.

joining MUFON does NOT give you access to other witnesses. in fact, it does just the opposite. any attempt you make to contact other witnesses is BLOCKED
